NCCU complies with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), which requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to maintain and disclose campus safety and security related policies and crime statistics for crimes that occur on and near their respective campuses.

NCCU Alert: All Clear
Condition 1 Extension - 01.23.25
NCCU Alert: North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will extend the Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) of the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy through Friday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. As we monitor conditions in and around campus, this Condition 1… could be extended. During adverse weather and other emergency event conditions, employees should take reasonable precautions for personal safety. Under Condition 1: “The University remains open, but certain non-mandatory operations may be reduced due to more limited staffing. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. All other employees have the option to report late, leave early, or not work at all; however, the employee is responsible for informing his/her supervisory chain in a timely manner of all such decisions. Employees must code available leave for any work time missed during a Condition 1, unless the supervisor authorized off site work arrangements…” Employees not working during a Condition 1 declaration are required to use personal leave. Adverse weather leave must be reconciled (made-up) within 90 days. Faculty and staff should reference the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy. Should campus operations change, we will communicate all updates via the Rave system (email, text and phone call), weather telephone hotline (919-530-7220), social media (Facebook, X, Instagram) and on the NCCU website. CAMPUS OPERATIONS UPDATES FRIDAY, JAN. 24 • Academic Affairs: Classes starting before 10 a.m. are cancelled. • Transportation: Campus Shuttle service will operate on a normal schedule. • NCCU Student Center: The NCCU Student Center will remain open for all scheduled events. • Campus Dining: Pearson Dining Hall will be open for brunch until 10:30 a.m. – 2 30 p.m. and dinner 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Hours will change accordingly should weather conditions worsen.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is a tool to utilize for informational purposes when the reader wishes to make an inquiry regarding campus safety. It also provides steps you can take to maximize your personal safety. The goal of the entire NCCU community is to remain in compliance with the Clery Act and to be totally transparent when reporting crimes.

Clery Geography Map
The Clery Geography Map outlines NCCU’s Clery Jurisdiction. Clery crimes that occur within any of the areas identified on the map must be reported within the university’s Clery reporting.

The Clery Act outlines specific crimes that NCCU must report. "Clery Crimes and Definitions" outlines the formal definition of crimes that occur on NCCU’s campus and ensures consistency across the Police Department as we work to appropriately classify and report incidents that occur within our geography.
