The graduation fee includes, but is not limited to, the administrative costs associated with the review and academic clearance of each student; honor cords; and items for diploma production, including the honor sticker, printing of diploma (and associated printing supplies), mailing and diploma cover.
The fee is non-refundable.
Spring 2025 graduation caps, gowns and accessories will now be ordered through Herff Jones. You may go directly to collegegrad.herffjones.com to place your order. There will also be a link on the NCCU Bookstore's website at nccushop.com, under the announcements. These packages will be delivered to the address of your choice. The Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremonies will be held in the McDougald-McLendon Arena. Guest tickets are required and are only valid for the ceremony printed on the ticket.
All ceremonies on May 9 and 10, 2025, will be streamed live on the university’s website and YouTube channel, which will provide an opportunity for graduates’ families and friends to watch, experience and celebrate the commencement festivities.
Students will walk across the stage to receive their cover and will report to their department after their ceremony to pick up their diploma.
No, attendance at the in-person commencement ceremonies is not required but is strongly encouraged.
Graduating students who have met all academic, non-academic and financial obligations but are unable to participate in the University’s Commencement Exercises may pick up their original diploma in person at the Office of the Registrar no earlier than the Wednesday after the Commencement Exercises. A picture ID must be presented.
In order to have the original diploma mailed (this applies to non-participating and participating students), the student must request to have their original diploma mailed:
- First, please contact the NCCU Cashier’s Office at 919-530-6234, 919-530-6014 or 919-530-6209 to pay the $10 postage fee.
- Second, please complete, sign and submit the Request For Original Diploma Mailing Form to the Office of the Registrar by fax (919-530-7974) or by email ([email protected]).
The university is hosting one ceremony for all graduate and professional students on Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m., where Chancellor Dr. Karrie G. Dixon will confer degrees to all graduate and professional students.
The students will receive their degrees from their departments after their ceremony.
Degrees will be posted on transcripts approximately two weeks after graduation. Please wait at least two weeks after graduation before placing an order for an official degree-dated transcript.
Transcripts can be ordered online at Parchment’s site for $13.00 each.
Yes, student loan exit counseling must be completed.
If you had Stafford Loans or Plus Loans, complete the mandatory Student Loan Exit Counseling online only at https://studentaid.gov/. If you have questions or need assistance, please send an email to [email protected].
If you have had a Perkins Loan, please send an email to [email protected] for instructions on how to complete this requirement.
The senior survey is for undergraduate students only. There is a separate exit survey for graduate and professional students. The Office of Institutional Research and Analysis will send the survey login and password to the NCCU email addresses of all graduating students.

As a requirement for participation in the Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremonies, all graduating students must acknowledge acceptance of the mandatory Commencement Decorum Video by the April 25, 2025, deadline.
Undergraduate students (the College of Health and Sciences and the School of Education) should arrive no later than 12 p.m. on May 9, 2025.
Graduate, professional students should arrive no later than 7 a.m. on May 10, 2025.
Undergraduate students (the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities and the School of Business) should arrive no later than 12 p.m. on May 10, 2025.
