University Academic Appeal Guidelines and Instructions

The Academic Appeal form for Fall 2024 is currently closed. The Spring 2025 Academic Appeal form will open in October.

Academic Standing and Sanction Policy

Students who do not meet the University's FUSS regulation regarding academic standing may be placed on academic suspension or dismissal. If suspended or dismissed, you will be dropped from your courses for the next term and will no longer be considered an enrolled NCCU student.

If your suspension or dismissal occurred under extraordinary circumstances, you may file an academic appeal for consideration of academic reinstatement.

Understanding the Academic Eligibility Standards (FUSS) Policy

The FUSS policy monitors the academic progress of our undergraduate students and determines eligibility for continued enrollment based on GPA and course completion percentage.

Tips for Submitting Your Academic Appeal

Need guidance on what to include in your Academic Appeal Submission? Review our tips!

Who to Contact

Each school/college identifies an academic appeal review chair responsible for managing the process within the school or college for reviewing each submission. Most schools/colleges also maintain an academic appeals committee to review each submission through a holistic lens.

Readmission

Students who were not currently enrolled in the most recent term (fall or spring) and wish to return to NCCU must first apply for readmission.

Financial Aid

An Academic Appeal is independent from any review of your financial aid eligibility for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) that may be conducted by the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid. If you have lost your financial aid eligibility, you will be required to submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal.
