A project is a temporary, planned endeavor with a clear beginning and end that follows established guidelines to produce a unique product, service, or result based on specific, agreed-upon outcomes. Examples of technical projects in higher education include the implementation of a campus-wide learning management system, the development of a research data management platform, a departmental move, the deployment of a high-performance computing cluster, the integration of virtual or augmented reality technologies in teaching and learning, or the modernization of campus infrastructure and building management systems.
Projects go through a review process governed by the ITS Project Steering Committee and ITS leadership. This process involves assessing the feasibility, risk, and complexity of the requested project. Requests are then categorized to ensure that complex, enterprise-level IT projects are planned, organized, documented, managed, and completed in a timely manner while providing superior service to the university.
ITS projects are planned on a quarterly basis throughout the year. During the lifespan of your project, ITS will execute tasks in bi-weekly sprints, conducting daily scrums to identify and resolve any issues and ensure continuous progress. Additionally, a monthly project demo meeting is held for the campus community, showcasing the work completed during the preceding sprints.
