How did working at Intel further your interest in law and technology?

Working for Intel completely changed my career interests. Prior to Intel, I planned to practice criminal law. I wanted to do something impactful for my community, and I thought the only way to do that was through criminal law. I am so thankful that I learned I was completely wrong. During my time at Intel, I learned that one of the biggest reasons systemic racism continues to thrive is because of the wealth distribution of our country. A disproportionate number of black attorneys go into civil rights work or criminal law while the highly lucrative tech law positions are not sought after. Creating a bridge to a highly lucrative position is just as important as work in civil rights. We need soldiers in all positions to win this war.

How did working at Intel further your interest in law and technology?

Working at Intel furthered my interest in law and technology because it allowed me to see the intersections of the two hands-on. Before this internship, I did not know the full potential of my two degrees and how I could work in both law and technology. This internship also boosted my experience and connections, which has opened more doors for me in law and technology. From my connections, I now have relationships with top tech attorneys. Additionally, from my experience at Intel, I have been able to secure a summer position for 2022 at a law firm that works with tech companies, including Intel. All of these opportunities combined motivate me to stay on top of everything dealing with law and technology, ultimately furthering my interest in law and technology more and more each day.

How did the tech law courses at NCCU prepare you for the internship?

The tech law courses at NCCU prepared me by providing me with a perspective that allowed me to flourish at Intel. At the time, I was taking Blockchain for Lawyers right before my internship. This allowed me to come into Intel and think not only about law but about technology and law and the innovations that may occur. In addition, my Blockchain class provided me with a talking point that helped me build relationships as many attorneys at Intel were interested to hear that I was taking a Blockchain class and interested in cryptocurrency.
