To apply for institutional scholarships, please review the requirements for each scholarship. The University Scholarship Database Application cycle opens on October 1 and closes on February 28. Each October 1 when the database opens, students are applying to receive a scholarship award for the upcoming academic year, not the current academic year.
Established on April 30, 1997, to support NCCU Law students, this scholarship provides support for tuition and books.
On September 28, 2007, NCCU Law alumni and friends established this scholarship to honor the dedication of Professor James P. Beckwith, Jr. The Beckwith scholarship provides financial assistance to law students in the evening program who have demonstrated financial need and are in good academic standing.
Created with contributions from alumni and friends of a former NCCU Law registrar, Johnnie Brown, these awards are made to second-year or third-year students with demonstrated financial need and a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
This scholarship is awarded to second- and third-year NCCU Law students who have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 and are in good academic standing. Preference will be given to students who desire to practice law in eastern North Carolina. The recipient(s) must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial and Student Aid.
Eligible scholarship recipients must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and be in good academic standing. Scholarship recipients may apply to renew the scholarship so long as they remain in good academic standing. The scholarship distribution amount shall be divided in the following manner: twenty-five percent (25%) for Hispanic/Latino and/or Native American students and the remaining seventy-five percent (75%) to all other qualifying students. The recipient(s) must have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial and Student Aid.
Eligible students must be admitted to NCCU Law and have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 or higher in their last two years of undergraduate school. Recipients may apply for renewal of the scholarship so long as they are in good academic standing at the end of their first or second years. Preference will be given to first-generation college graduates who are African American and completed their undergraduate studies at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) or another historically Black college or university (HBCU). The recipient(s) must have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial and Student Aid.
In 1996, Judge Johnson established this award through the designation of a life insurance policy. His scholarship supports NCCU Law students who might otherwise be unable to attend law school.

On September 11, 2007, Joylette Mills-Ransome and Roberta Ann Dunbar established this scholarship in honor of Janice Lorene Mills for her service as a faculty member and former dean of the law school. The scholarship supports deserving NCCU Law students who attended public high school in Rockingham, Guilford, Durham, or Orange counties or who have lived in the afore-mentioned counties for at least six months prior to their enrollment.
Established to support deserving NCCU students, the scholarship recipients are selected by the scholarship committee.
Established on January 10, 1991, to support NCCU Law students, the Simon scholarship provides to deserving students with academic promise and with demonstrated financial need.
Established on December 9, 2006, this scholarship supports deserving NCCU Law students who attended a public high school in either Franklin, Vance, or Warren counties or have lived in the afore-mentioned counties for at least six months prior to enrollment.
This scholarship shall be awarded to a single student until such time as the fund can support additional awards. The scholarship recipient must be a second or third-year NCCU Law student with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship recipient must be a member of the Moot Court trial team and may use the funds for travel-related expenses. The recipient must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid. The recipient may apply for renewal of this annual scholarship so long as he/she remains in good academic standing.
Established by the John H. Wheeler Foundation in honor of the late John H. Wheeler, an alumnus and prominent businessman, this scholarship supports law students based on academic proficiency and demonstrated financial need.
There is no separate application required to be considered for one of these awards.
This scholarship assists the recipient with paying for child care while he/she is studying for the bar exam. To qualify, the recipient must be a single parent and NCCU Law student who has demonstrated financial need and a minimum grade point average of 2.3. The scholarship recipient must be registered to take a bar exam.

Awards from firms, foundations, religious and civic organizations as well as employer tuition benefits are the most common examples of outside scholarships.
