It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Health and Sciences (CHAS) at North Carolina Central University. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 2007 and is located in the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) building.
The department supports the College of Health and Sciences commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching and service. The department engages in interdisciplinary teaching and research that provides relevant real-world expertise students need to become skilled scientists, excel intellectually and professionally in a global environment and pursue careers in science and management or continue their education in graduate school.
The department offers two undergraduate degree programs, a bachelor of science degree in Pharmaceutical Science, established in 2007, and a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Research Sciences, which was established in 2020. The degree in Pharmaceutical Science prepares students to meet the growing employment market demand in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries or to pursue graduate studies in the sciences and health-related fields. The degree in Clinical Research Sciences prepares students for careers in clinical research in the global life science industry.
In addition to the undergraduate degrees, the department offers an M.S. degree in Pharmaceutical Science, with options for a research-based thesis or a project-based non-thesis. The department also offers a concentration in Pharmaceutical Science as part of the doctoral (Ph.D.) program in Integrated Biosciences (INBS), which is housed in the School of Graduate Studies.
