Delores J Grant
Delores Grant's research program has primarily focused on the study of the roles that enzymes from the human UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) gene family have in the development of prostate and ovarian cancer in multiethnic populations to understand the underlying factors contributing to health disparities in individuals of African descent.
She has employed approaches in genomics, epidemiological and functional analysis with collaborators and research teams at North Carolina Central University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke Medical Center and North Carolina State University to investigate the role of the genes that are important in the normal metabolism of xenobiotic and endobiotic substances (i.e., drugs and steroid hormones) in liver and extrahepatic tissue. They have a body of work focused on assessing the health disparity of Black Americans with prostate and ovarian cancer in addition to a burgeoning focus on epigenetics and cancer.
