NCCU Chancellor’s Board of Visitors Member Responsibilities

Title: Member, North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Chancellor’s Board of Visitors (CBOV)

Reports to: The Chancellor

Term: Three-year term expiring on June 30 of the appropriate year

Qualifications:  The Board is comprised of persons selected for their demonstrated leadership and desire to assist North Carolina Central University

Objectives: The NCCU CBOV is a volunteer service organization of North Carolina Central University whose goal is to assist the Chancellor by helping the University accomplish its mission and strategic priorities and promote its attributes in a positive manner by maintaining and enhancing quality and excellence.

Expectations

  • Two required regular meetings per year; one during both the fall and spring semesters
  • Participate at members' own expense
  • Participation in the new member introductory meeting 
  • Participation in committee meetings either in person or by teleconference scheduled by the committee chair and/or co-chair

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Chancellor on specific priorities as delegated
  • To advise the Chancellor of the attitudes, opinions, concerns, and expectations of university constituents with respect to NCCU
  • To advocate and promote accomplishments and needs to the general public and other specific constituencies as requested by the Chancellor
  • To be ambassadors of the mission, programs, accomplishments, needs, and aspirations of NCCU to the larger community
  • To add financial value by committing to the board's goal of a 100 percent giving rate. While board membership does not require any minimum level of giving, each member's individual support should be commensurate with the board's strong commitment to the university.
  • To energize and develop sustained personal support of and engagement in programs and activities of NCCU, including continuing active involvement and participation beyond the individual member's term
