Viviane Ackall
Originally from Brazil, Viviane holds a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology, along with a post-graduate specialization in Communication Disorders. She further expanded her knowledge and skills by earning a master's degree in business communication and a paralegal certificate in the USA.
With an extensive career spanning various settings, Viviane has dedicated many years to working with individuals with disabilities. Her diverse experience includes roles in public and private practice, special education K-12, and college undergraduate admissions and advising for regular and TRiO students. Notably, Viviane has spent over a decade focusing on university accessibility services, with the last seven years dedicated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Viviane's strengths lie in her organizational skills, creative thinking, and ability to understand most perspectives of an issue. These qualities have proven invaluable in her work with students, instructors, and staff, particularly in the evaluation and implementation of accommodation requests and in making alternative accommodations available to students, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment. She believes that communication is the key ingredient to avoid miscommunication and ensure the seamless implementation of accommodations. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Viviane values her time spent with family. Married for 24 years, she enjoys quality moments with her husband and two children, Gabriel and Yasmine. Gabriel is currently a junior studying civil engineering at Georgia Tech, while Yasmine is a freshman pursuing biochemistry at UNC-CH. In her leisure time, Viviane also indulges in her passion for volleyball and painting.
