What is Implementation Science? Why does it matter?

You’ve probably heard a lot about it as it has been more popular in the past decade. People are realizing the potential impact and opportunity in terms of thinking about addressing health disparities in particular.

And why is IS so important? There is a gap between research (or theory) and practice or policy. There are gaps not only in the knowledge and whether it is actually implemented, but there is also a gap in the quality of information being delivered, quality of implementation, and gaps in training as well.

So we need to figure out what works (our THING) and what is actually delivered.
