North Carolina Central University School of Law requires that applicants submit two (2) written recommendations through LSAC’s Letter of Recommendation Service. It is important that you choose people to write your recommendations who will comment honestly about your ability to do well in law school and in the legal profession upon graduation. Your recommendation should provide substantive information with comments about all of the following areas:
- Intelligence/reasoning ability
- Individuality of thought/creativity
- Initiative/motivation
- Judgment/maturity
- Written communication skills
- Oral communication skills
- Integrity
- Leadership ability
- Analytical abilities
- Academic achievements
- Unique talents
- Community involvement
Your Credential Assembly Service (CAS) reports must include two (2) letters of recommendation. Your application is not complete without the two (2) required letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications are not reviewed by the admissions committee. Your letters of recommendation must be received by LSAC on or before April 30, which is the application deadline.
A helpful letter of recommendation should describe your written and oral communication skills. Generally, former or current professors are best suited to provide a comprehensive and positive evaluation of abilities and aptitude. A letter of recommendation that only comments generally on your character and demeanor is less helpful to the admissions committee.
You must submit your letters of recommendation via LSAC’s Letter of Recommendation Service, which is included in the Credential Assembly Service. To use this service, follow the directions for submitting letters of recommendation outlined by LSAC.
