138th Commencement Exercises: Highlights
The Undergraduate Ceremony will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 9 a.m.
The Graduate and Professional Ceremony will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 2 p.m.
Graduates will be provided with electronic tickets:

Note: The two satellite venue guest tickets can be picked up in person from Monday, November 29, through Friday, December 10, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. each day. Please bring a picture ID to the Ticket Office located in the W.G. Pearson Dining Hall to claim your two satellite venue guest tickets.

Students may pick up honor cords from their departments from December 9–10, 2021.
Masks will be distributed by faculty marshals upon entry to McDougald-McLendon Arena where graduates will line up.
Graduating students must adhere to the Commencement Decorum Agreement (more information forthcoming).
A virtual rehearsal will be held during the following times on Friday, Dec. 10:
- Graduate/professional/doctoral students: 8–9:30 a.m.
- Undergraduate students: 10–11:30 a.m.
More details will be shared with graduates.
COVID-19 Protocols and Guidelines
In keeping with the university’s “Protect the Nest” initiative and NCCU’s COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, you received correspondence earlier this week regarding our COVID-19 Commencement prerequisites.
Commencement Speaker: Dr. Naima A. Stennett
Naima Stennett, M.D., ’10, ’13, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and former volleyball standout was awarded a full scholarship to NCCU at 16 years old. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry before earning her master’s degree at NCCU in biology with a concentration in biomedical research before entering medical school. She earned her medical degree from East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, N.C., in 2017. She is currently a primary care sports medicine physician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Campus Health, where she also serves as the team physician for the UNC track and field team.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Mohamed Barrie was only 18 years old when his family left their home country of Liberia in West Africa for the United States as refugees. His mother, a registered nurse and single parent, was determined to give Barrie and his siblings a better life.
Bachelor of Business Administration
For business graduate Dion Brinson, receiving his degree is a testament to the importance of persevering in the midst of adversity. He was able to overcome childhood challenges, including brief homelessness, to triumphantly become the first person in his immediate family to graduate college.

Joy Clark always aspired to attend law school; however, her love for math and teaching took her on an alternative path.
