Programs offered at the School of Education are accredited by organizations including the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the Association for Education and Rehabilitation Accreditation Council (AERAC). At the undergraduate level, the School of Education grants the B.A. degree for elementary education and middle grades education and the B.S. degree for early childhood education (Birth through Kindergarten Licensure).
The School of Education Graduate Division offers M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed., M.S. and M.S.A. degrees, with both on-campus and online options available.

The Marathon Teaching Institute (MTI) is designed to increase the number of male school teachers and higher administrators from a broader and more diverse background, particularly male African-American teachers.
Located in the School of Education, we provide mental health counseling to individuals who are 13 years of age and older, as well as couples and families. We offer in-person and telehealth services to individuals in Durham County and across North Carolina. Counseling services are grounded in a holistic approach to wellness, cultural awareness and social justice.
