Biomedical Biotechnology Research Institute

The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) was launched in 1998 as an innovative research and training institute dedicated to the advancement of fundamental knowledge of human diseases, particularly those that disproportionately affect under-represented minority groups.

Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise

With a strong research focus, particularly in the areas of drug discovery and manufacturing technology, the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) is one of the newest and most innovative biotechnology educational initiatives in the country and the only formal biotech degree program offered by a North Carolina university.

Center for Innovation in Health Disparities Research

The Center for Innovation in Health Disparities Research (CIHDR) is a partnership between the Department of Nursing at Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina Central University, and the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

Computational Center for Fundamental and Applied Science and Education

The Computational Center for Fundamental and Applied Science and Education (CCFASE) unites investigators from five departments in the College of Science and Technology at NCCU, leveraging established strengths in computational research and education across the departmental disciplines as Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology.

Institute for the Study of Minority Issues

The mission of the Institute for the Study of Minority Issues is to promote faculty, student, and institutional research related to minorities, particularly African Americans, in the New South. 

Juvenile Justice Institute

The Juvenile Justice Institute (JJI) at NCCU was established in 1999 by the General Assembly (Senate Bill 399).  Located within the Department of Criminal Justice, JJI was founded to promote the exchange of information and human resource development to help facilitate prevention of juvenile crime and delinquency.

Zebrafish Screening Core Facility

 

The High-Throughput Zebrafish Screening Core (HTZSC) is a unit that supports high-throughput screening of drugs or toxins to assess safety, effectiveness, or toxicity for humans using zebrafish.

Rodent Behavior Core Facility

 

The RCHDR Rodent Behavior core facility provides NCCU investigators as well as researchers from outside NCCU opportunities to conduct experiments on a variety of behavioral tasks related to genetic, pharmacological and/or environmental models mimicking human disorders.
