Financial Aid Information

  • Full scholarship provides tuition, fees, room and board, books and other miscellaneous items
  • Partial scholarship should indicate specific fees to be awarded.
  • You must have funds available for tuition and fees, living expenses, medical insurance, and books upon arrival.
  • If your attendance depends on North Carolina Central University award, a departmental letter must accompany this form. If, however, you have adequate support from other sources, you must complete the form documenting that support or personal support to speed the processing of your application. If the assistantship does not equal $30,500 you must show additional funding. The showing of private support will not jeopardize your application for an assistantship.

Financial Requirements for International Students
  • As a single student, you are required to certify that you have a minimum of $30,500 on deposit for the first year of study. If you are relying on a sponsor for support, the sponsor must show proof that they have at least $30,500 on deposit and certify full support for the duration of your program.
  • You must show sources of support for the full expected term of study at NCCU, even if you hope to finish in less time.
  • International students are responsible for all cost. You are responsible for your financial obligations, even if your sponsors are delinquent with financial support.
  • A student who plans to study in the United States (US) in the summer will need approximately $10,000 for the three-month period.
  • Tuition and fees must be paid in full to the NCCU Bursar’s Office (919-530-6209) before class program start date.
  • International students must have two original sets of financial documentation. One set of documents are mailed to International Student Services, maintain a second set of documents for your interview with the U.S. Consulate or Embassy in your country.
 Guidelines for Financial Documentation
  • Financial documentation requested must be sent with application and financial statement.
  • No photocopies or faxes accepted
  • Documentation must be originals and in English
  • Financial Documentation:
    • Property and or stocks may not be used for financial documentation.
    • Currency must be in U.S. dollars.
    • Exchange rate to U.S. dollars must be provided by bank All bank statements must certify that the money is current, dated less than 6 MONTHS of initial enrollment.
    • Original financial documents must be provided and notarized by bank official.
    • Official letter must be provided.
    • Signatures must be the original.
    • Students supporting themselves must show proofs of funds for the full-term of his/her program (including support of dependents, if any).
    • Students must provide original documentation for all sources of funding, if sponsored by their family, a sponsor, employer, home government, or an award letter from university providing scholarship.
    • These official letters must be on letterhead have a government seal or bank seal.
  • Official Letter:
    • Letter should be on official letterhead
    • International student’s name Sponsor’s name Academic program and start date
    • Letter should have current date and an original signature
    • Amount of the funds awarded to student
    • Effective start date and end date of funds awarded.
